2006
Dear reader,
I want to wish you a healthy 2006 with lots of success, fun, happiness, and love. I have been writing little the last few months because of a lack of time, and I fear this will not change in the coming months.
Nevertheless, I (and almost everyone I know) was shocked to hear about the Nice-Lyons train rampage on New Year's Day, and even more about the non-reaction of the French authorities. In Belgium, it was kept out of the news until the 4th. You can read the story here.
This is totally unacceptable in our society. "Youths" get the impression they can get away with anything they want. Some European banlieues are no man's land since a few decades. France was "relieved" that "youths" "only" set about 400 cars into fire on New Year's Eve and that there were "no" riots. But the violence seems to spread more and more to whole countries. We are almost at the stage of a silent civil war.
Authorities are clearly to blame for this. 40 years of non-intervention policy creates contempt and lawlessness at the youths' part and fear and anger at the modal citizen's part. This leads to racism and who can blame people that become racist for these reasons? Certainly, not all Arabs are bad people. But people see underaged North Africans getting away with everything while modal citizens are harassed with stricter traffic regulations, non-smoking laws and are paying taxes to subsidize unemployed youths that do not want to go to school, earn their livings and that do not want to integrate in our society. The dichotomy of our society is caused by a total mismanagement of the original foreign labour force and then the lefties are telling us we are intolerant. It is their lack of interest that has created this situation, and now the situation grows as explosive as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East.
In the mean time, the self-proclamed mahdi and Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad provokes the world every week with new threats, revisionism and the expansion of the Iranian nuclear programme. The man is worse than pure evil, since he is totally insane and believes he will lead Islam to dominion of the world. At the same time, the EU, the Council of Europe, and the UN have urged the Danish prime minister to apologise for the freedom of speech in his country. As e.g. the Brussels Journal has reported many times, the Danish newspaper Jyllandsposten published 12 cartoons about Islam and this provoked a jihad against them. You are not allowed to make fun of Islam. Everybody can make fun of Catholics or Jews, but Muslims see any bit of humour as a huge insult. The fact that most European leaders do about anything to offend the Christians and criticize everyone with a tiny little bit of critique on Islam, contributes again to the uneasy feeling of many citizens. Current politicians are totally irresponsible and the new generation, educated by soixant-huitards, will be even worse.
2006 is certainly going to be an interesting, but therefore not a good year. I genuinely hope I am wrong.

Are you sure you aren't an American pretending to be from Holland?
